Chief Michael Flynn has been employed by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office for 38 ½ years. He has worked in every division as both a deputy and supervisor. Chief Flynn is a graduate of the 1988 Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command. Chief Flynn is an Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy certified Basic Training Commander, firearms instructor, and a unit instructor for numerous topics. Chief Flynn has been used the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office to offer testimony as an expert in officer involved deadly force encounters. He has served as a hostage negotiator since 1989 having managed and participated in numerous barricade situations in Franklin County and surrounding counties. Chief Flynn has been the recipient of numerous awards and citations throughout his career including the Medal of Honor, Medal of Merit, and the Criminal Division Supervisor of the Year.
